Den sammanlagda längden, The examination Exhibition of the Master Students 2009,
4 December 2009 - 3 January 2010
Six artists complete their master exam by showing
Den Sammanlagda Längden (The Total Length) at Göteborgs Konsthall 4th of dec.- 3rd of jan. 2010. The show presents the variety in wich the students work -sound installation, text, sculpture/installation,video and photography. During the last two years, under the guidance of professor Annika von Hausswolff and professor Lotta Antonsson, the master students of the School of photography, University of Gothenburg, have developed their work in many directions and in different medias, but at the same time, they share the same aestetic foundation.
"I have had the privilege to work with the Masterclass of 2009 during the past year. Six students. Six individuals. Yet a group. A Very Special group. With the speed of light, they have taken me from one extreme to another, from the intimate existential to the macro-cosmic metaphysical. The journey through their universe has been a beautiful one. To produce photography has not always been the most important matter of course for this group. So what did we do? Where did we go? We talked. We talked about matters that meant something to us. About art & photography in its creation, as a tragedy, a comedy, as poetics, as an eyewitness, a universal story, a social criticism, as art criticism, as a song, a color, a sound, as materials, as words. To see, to notice, to visualize can describe some of what we are doing at the School of Photography. But sometimes it is as important to look away or even choose to not see. How can I explain to you what I have seen and what I know, They themselves will best describe and show you who they were, what they are and what they will be. You too will see." /Lotta Antonsson, professor School of Photography, University of Gothenburg
